NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 28- The Kenya military is set to have a modern sports complex that will have a range of facilities- in a move meant to promote sports and mental wellness among soldiers.
The construction of the project was commissioned on Wednesday by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Lang’ata Barracks in Nairobi County.
It will include a 7,500 capacity Ulinzi Sports Complex.
The sports facility will be developed on 35 acres of land and will host a world-class football pitch and training ground, an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, and an indoor arena among other ultra-modern facilities.
The purpose of the sports complex is to nurture total wellness and to spur an enduring sporting culture, in order to develop emotional, mental, and physical wellness within the military and sporting communities.
