    Russia to help DCI become a first-class investigative institution

    NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 28- Russia has committed to help the George Kinoti led Directorate of Criminal Investigations in capacity building, towards becoming a world-class investigative institution.

    So far, the Russian embassy has been facilitating short- and long-term courses to DCI officers locally and in Russia.

    They also offer training in specialized areas including Forensics, Intelligence gathering and Counter Terrorism among others.

    The renewed assurance was made during on Wednesday, when Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kenya, Dmitry Maksimychev paid a courtesy call to the DCI.

    The Ambassador pledged “continued support in building the capacity of our officers.”

    The envoy further noted that plans are underway to facilitate a team of DCI officers to Moscow in an orientation tour of the country’s special equipment for firearms detection, bomb disposal, and security scrutiny.

    “On his part, Mr. Kinoti thanked the Russian Ambassador for his country’s continued support to the Directorate, adding that the training programs our officers have been undertaking have gone a long way in improving their capacity in crime prevention,” the DCI said through a statement on social media platforms.

    The Ambassador was accompanied by Minister-Counsellor Deputy Head of Mission Aleksei Iudintsev and Counsellor Dmitry Makarov.
