NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 4- President Kenyatta is Wednesday scheduled to hold an extraordinary session of the national and county governments coordinating summit to discuss the rising cases of COVID-19 pandemic.
He would later likely announce new measures to manage the surge of the disease.
The session was convened in light of the resurgence of COVID-19 infections across the country as exhibited by the fact that Kenya has recorded its highest number of COVID-19 monthly fatalities in October 2020.
According to officials, the session shall consider the evolution of the disease as well as the epidemiological models on how COVID-19 may propagate within our Country over the months of November and December 2020.
It shall also review the efficacy of the containment measures in place, as well as the impact of the easing of the restrictions that were in place.
More than 1,000 have been killed and some 1,289 are in various hospitals with the disease. More than 4,000 are in homes for care.
Officials say the president may ban public gatherings and regulate bars as part of efforts to contain the spread.
