NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 13- Security was beefed up around Parliament buildings ahead of Thursday’s planned address by President Uhuru Kenyatta in both Houses.
The president is scheduled to hold his state of the nation address amid Covid-19 pandemic surge and push for the passage of the Building Bridges Initiative report proposals.
Few members of parliament and senators were invited to attend the session due to the pandemic.
This is aimed at ensuring social distancing in the wake of surging cases of Covid-19 pandemic that has so far killed more than 1,000 people.
Security officials said they will be there to scrutinize those getting in.
Police urged motorists to avoid roads near parliament buildings from the afternoon because they will be closed for the session.
