NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 16- One person was Monday morning killed and four others rushed to Machakos level 5 hospital after an accident involving three vehicles at Kapiti plains on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
Those in hospital had multiple injuries.
The vehicles were moving on opposite direction.
Two of the vehicles burst into flames after clashing trapping those on board.
Police and witnesses say the early morning accident was out of driver error but investigators are handling it.
The incident caused a huge traffic snarl on the highway for hours as police cleared the flow.
Police are urging caution on the roads ahead of the festive season.
Machakos police boss Issa Mohamed said they will intensify patrols and campaigns on the highway for safe driving.
