NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov, 19 -Three out of the 7 missing teenage girls in Nairobi were on Friday reunited with their families, but the mystery of their whereabouts and who might have abducted them remain unknown.
The three were found by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Child Protection Unit.
“Efforts are in place to trace and rescue the remaining girls,” a senior detective privy to the ongoing investigations told Shahidi News.
Relatives of one of the missing girls took to social media in a teary post pleading with Kenyans to provide any information to the family of the the seven missing girls.
One of the teenage girls was reported missing on Saturday November 14, from their Kamulu estate home in Nairobi, after attempts to find her proved futile.
The seven girls are said to be aged between 15 and 16 years.
Detectives did not reveal the identities of the three girls that were found.
The detectives have called for patience as they continue searching the remaining four girls.
One of the family members of the missing girls had expressed fears that their kin who had been lured out of their home at night under the pretense of being cast for an audition in order to make money.
“I believe they are being sex trafficked. I searched for the number luring my cousin and it was an American number. I tried calling it but it did not go through. We are working closely with police to bring them home,” a teary relative said.
Cases of teenagers mysteriously disappearing from their homes have recently been on the rise as criminals continue to devise ‘trendy’ ways to prey on victims.
