SAMBURU, Kenya, Nov 23- Two people were Sunday killed in two separate incidents in Baragoi area, Samburu North.
Police said the victims were shot by gunmen who escaped with an unknown number of animals.
In the first incident, a 10-year-old boy was shot dead after gunmen raided Natiti village and escaped with dozens of animals.
Witnesses and police said the attackers escaped to a neighboring county with the animals.
“The boy was shot and killed as he looked after the animals. They escaped with the animals, but we are pursuing them,” said area police boss Tom Makori.
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old bodaboda rider was killed by gunmen in South Horr in what police believe to be retaliation. Another man was injured in the shooting incident.
Tension is mounting in the area amid fears of retaliation.
But police say they have beefed up security and urged for cooperation from local leadership to tame any future planned attacks.
