NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 23- The woman arrested after 44 teenagers were busted during an orgy session inside her compound in Mountain View Estate in Dagoretti Sub County in Nairobi will remain in police custody until November 30, as investigators gather evidence of alleged child trafficking against her.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) obtained court orders to detain Millicent Kithinji in a bid to assist in investigations into a suspected web involved in child trafficking and causing children to be exposed to sexual abuse and exploitation, including prostitution and pornography.
In an affidavit filed at Milimani law courts, corporal Julius Oguma of Dagoretti DCI offices said police recovered condoms and empty bottles of assorted alcoholic drinks and bhang from Kithinji’s compound where they claim pornography among the minors happened in her presence.
Kithinji will be held at Kabete police station alongside her accomplices David Kibe Wambui, George Kamau Muthoni and Michael Morega suspected of committing or abetting the crimes.
The four suspects are suspected to be part of the organizers of the event where children were boozing and taking part in orgy before Kithinji’s neighbours reported a huge number of the minors in one home to police.
“The teenagers were involved in pornography and drugs in presence of Kithinji and Morenga. Wambu and George Muthoni being businessmen within the Mountain View Area were involved in the supply of drugs and alcohol to the teenagers,” Corporal Julius Oguma said.
“It is suspected that there are people who benefit from the pornographic images taken from such events hence there is need for proper investigations to identify the said people.”
It is suspected that the organisers of the event lure the teenagers through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp among others.
The detectives are pursuing a syndicate that has been undertaking the activities and wants to obtain the suspects’ call data records and sift through their communication gadgets to nab their accomplices.
The 44 children from Kiambu, Nairobi, and Machakos counties have been handed over to the Department of Children Services.
Senior principal magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot granted the custodial orders.
