NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 7- The woman who was with Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda on Friday last week, the night he fell sick, will be held for 7 days at Kilimani police station.
This is after court granted detectives more days to conclude their investigations.
The woman had spent the night with the Senator at an apartment in Kilimani when the legislator complained of severe headache and was rushed at Nairobi hospital in a critical condition.
According to the investigating officer, police are now probing attempted murder.
The case will be mentioned on December 4.
A police report released on December 4 indicated the Senator and the woman were at an apartment located along Elgeyo Marakwet road in Kilimani.
It is the management of the apartment that called for an ambulance after the Senator’s health deteriorated.
Detectives said “perishable” evidence was collected at scene and is currently being analysed by the Government chemist.
The Senator is still admitted at Nairobi hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
