    3 killed in grisly road accident involving bodaboda and a bus in Garissa

    GARISSA, Kenya, Dec, 8 – Three people were on Tuesday morning killed after being involved in a grisly road accident along the Garissa-Nairobi highway.

    The deceased, a male bodaboda rider and two of his female passengers died on the spot in the 10 an accident.

    According to eye witnesses, the bodaboda was heading towards Garissa town when the rider attempted to overtake a Probox vehicle just infront of him.

    Despite manoeuvring his way to pass the vehicle, it rammed into an oncoming bus from the opposite direction, which was speeding.

    “The rider was speeding, we could clearly see how he attempted to overtake the Probox, however when he saw the bus, he attempted to return to his lane but unfortunately hit the Probox on the side and eventually rammed into the bus,” an eyewitness told Shahidi News.

    Police also confirmed the incident to Shahidi News and advised motorists to avoid recklessness while on roads and to observe traffic rules.

    Angry boda boda rider quickly arrived a the scene of the accident and attempted to burn down the probox before the driver sped away to safety.

    The riders later turned their anger on the bus driver that hit one of their own.

    Police however managed to contain the situation that caused a traffic snarl up for more than an hour along the busy road.

    Residents have identified the area as a blackspot.

    “The Kenya National Highway Authority need to erect speed bumps on this road. it is constantly becoming dangerous for many people,” a resident said.

    The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Garissa referral hospital mortuary.
