UASIN GISHU, Kenya, Dec, 17 – A 14 year-old who had gone missing was on Thursday found dead.

Mary Erusa’s body was found dumped in a nappier grass farm while put on a sack.

It was found besides a river bed in Tuya Bay Dam, Moi’s bridge area of the County.

The 14 year old girl had been reported missing Wednesday.

According to preliminary investigations, the deceased accompanied her father to the local market where they bought several sacks and told to take them home in order to store maize, that had recently been harvested and dried.

The deceased father, Geoffrey Omega, however told Shahidi News that her daughter never reached home.

“She left with me at round 9am on Wednesday, however at around 1pm my wife called and told me that she never got home,” she narrated of the incident.

“I told people to try and find her and by the time I got home, i joined the search team until the evening, but we did not find her.”

The matter was quickly reported at the Moi’s Bridge Police Station under a missing persons report.

Tragically however Thursday morning, local residents discovered the body of a the missing young girl, stored in a sack.

“Today at round 9pm we discover the body in a nappier grass farm near Tuya bay dam, this is not the first time a body has been found here. In fact, we are now getting worried that there is probably a serial killer on the loose,” said, Wilson Sirma, Senior chief, Moi’s Bridge Location.

Homicide Detectives from Eldoret who arrived at the area and secured the scene told Shahidi News that the 14 year-old girl had strangulation marks on her neck and marks on her body pointing to a struggle.

The deceased is also said to have been raped before being killed and her body dumped.

“Who could have done this to our child, I am heart broken. We want justice for our daughter,” the deceased mother, Lydia Otare asked.

Five girls, all under 14 years according to police have been killed in a similar manner before being dumped in the same area in this year alone.

All the girls attended Nabiswa Primary School.

“These cases are becoming a huge problem in this area. We are not sure whether its a ritual or serial killing but police are already working tirelessly to capture those involved,” Fanuel Nasio, Sub-county police commander said.

“Our daughter are being sexually abused and killed, we don’t understand what is happening. the government must establish a DCI station here in Moi’s Bridge so that they can solve these cases much faster,” a resident said.

In 2019 mass protests were conducted in Moi’s Bridge after a college student was attacked and her body dismembered.

Several people have since been arrested and prosecuted in connection with the killings.
