KAKAMEGA, Kenya, Dec, 21 – A 16 year-old boy who had been reported missing was on Monday morning found dead in a construction site in Muyava village, Kakamega County.

Collins Wanjia’s body was discovered at the site, which is adjacent to his home.

The deceased was found almost naked, with blood flowing out of his oricices.

“He was barely in his underwear, and it was also torn. His body was facing a wall and it is as if someone put him in a kneeling posture,” said the deceased father, Mariko Wanjia.

Police reports indicated that one of his legs was broken and the body had a deep cut on the waist and swelling on his eyes which were bleeding.

“When one of our relatives discovered the body, I quickly called the police at the Lubao police post who in turn called officers from Kabras police station. Crime scene officers took pictures and secured the body. I don’t know who would have done this to my son, I am not sure whether he had been threatened by anyone,” the father said.

Shahidi News has established the deceased was on December 16 seen at his home by his brother.

He however did not spend the night at home.

“I saw him that day and I thought that he had gone to sleep. Later in the night when I realized that he was not in his room, I assumed that he had gone to my uncle’s home where he usually goes to watch football matches ,” the deceased brother said.

The deceased had exhibited suicidal tendencies “often saying that he would die and that he did not feel safe.”

“My mother once told him to fetch water from the well and he refused saying that he would jump inside and end his life,” the brother said.

Area chief Micah Mwonyonyo told Shahidi News that the incident was tragic considering the deceased was a well behaved and talented young man.

“I want to urge parents to talk to their children. Youth should also confide in their parents or even friends when they are going through challenges in their lives,” chief Mwonyonyo said.

Investigations are ongoing to establish what caused the teenager’s death.
