NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 9- A Nigerian National was on Friday night arrested in connection with the death of a city lawyer.

The suspect was identified as Christian Kadima Mwambay.

Detectives said he was on the run since Friday morning.

He is linked to the murder of city lawyer, 32 year old Musyoki Elizabeth Koki.

Sources claim the two were living together within Syokimau area in Machakos but he left the house located at Ferndale court on Thursday night.

Reports also indicated that he had arrived at the deceased home at around 8PM.

The deceased body was discovered in their bedroom early Friday.

This was after the house help realized that the deceased had taken too long to wake up.

But when she checked her bedroom, she stumbled upon the lifeless body of her employer.

Detectives upon securing the scene are said to have retrieved pain killer medication sachets as well as a wrist watch which have since been admitted into evidence on the deceased’s blood stained bed.

However, DCI officers who had been on the trail of the suspect managed to arrest him at his hideout in a lodging within the city centre in Nairobi.

The deceased’s vehicle, a Volkswagen which the suspect allegedly fled in was recovered at Marsabit Plaza along Ngong road.

Sleuths have also told Shahidi News that he later left the car in the custody of an unidentified person asking them to return it to the deceased’s home.

“Our boys, who have been hot on his trail, have some minutes ago smoked him out of his hideout, at lodging in the city” reads the statement by DCI on Twitter.

Adding that,“Kadima had tried to outsmart our officers by driving his getaway car to Riruta, to create a false impression on his whereabouts. However, our sleuths were too clever for his antics. He is currently in lawful custody, being processed for his despicable act.”

The deceased lawyer has left behind two children both boys aged 4 and 9 years old.

A postmortem examination will be conducted Monday with the suspect also set to be arraigned.
