KAKAMEGA, Kenya, Jan 13 –A Kakamega man who assaulted his wife, who he accused of unfaithfulness, has committed suicide by hanging.
The 37-year-old on Monday stormed his home where he lashed at his wife and children.
At the time, witnesses told Shahidi News, that he was drunk.
“He was clearly drunk when he came in the house. He then proceeded to ask them where I have been the whole day. Despite being told I was doing house chores, He refused to believe them and started yelling,” Elizabeth Kutekha, the deceased wife said.
Shortly after, the man became aggressive and started beating her.
“He was strangling me,” she said.
“He said that he would kill me and later end his own life. He accused me of being involved with another man, but I told him that was not true.”
The man escaped after the woman cried for help, way before the area residents could arrive.
On Tuesday morning, however, the man was found hanging on a treat behind the house, dead.
According to the deceased mother Christine Awinja, the couple has had marital disputes for several weeks.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Kakamega Funeral Parlour.
