KIRINYAGA, Kenya, Jan 14 – A Kirinyaga man who pleaded guilty to two counts of defilement and impregnating his two daughters aged 14 and 16 years old has been sentenced to 140 years in jail.
John Gichira, a pastor will serve 70 years for each count of the defilement with the sentences expected to run consecutively.
Appearing before senior principal magistrate Anthony Mwicigi, he had initially pleaded guilty and later proceeded to plead with the court to be granted mercy.
He said, “the devil had misled him” to commit the unthinkable as he also sought forgiveness from his two daughters.
The accused now a permanent guest of the state, was arrested by police in December 2020 in Mbeere after evading an arrest warrant.
The first victim, his 16-year-old daughter, was defiled and gave birth to a baby now 7 months old.

The second victim, his 14-year-old daughter is now 6 months pregnant.
The crimes were committed at their home in Kianyakiru village, within the county.
