UASIN GISHU,Kenya, Jan, 16 – A security guard in Moi’s Bridge, Uasin Gishu County was Friday night killed by unknown assailants in yet another series of killings that has now left residents up in arms, while demanding justice.

The slain guard, 30 year-old David Mwiti was found outside his security post within the town.

According to preliminary reports, the deceased was first attacked with a blunt object before being chopped up.

Residents discovered his mutilated body Saturday morning.

This is the second incident involving a security guard in the last two weeks.

Issac Simiyu was killed by what residents believe to be the same gang outside an electronic shop he was manning.

Residents are accusing police of doing little to protect them.

“This was a very young man just doing his job to provide for his family. Now these gangs have killed him like an animal,” said a resident.

“We are being killed and the government is doing nothing. If they fail to protect us then we will be forced to do it ourselves.”

Residents are now calling for a total overhaul of the area’s security team.

“The OCS, sub county police commander must all go, we want Matiang’i (Interior Cabinet Secretary) to visit this area. It is a very small town but the rate at which people are being killed is very shocking,” another resident, visibly agitated, said.

The small town has in the recent months been making headlines for all the wrong reasons after six teenage girls were killed by a suspected serial killer in the area.

The recent incident, a 14-year old girl who was reported missing was on December 17 found dead and her body dumped in a nappier grass farm in the area.

Moi’s bridge Sub county police commander Fanuel Nasio told Shahidi News the matter is currently under investigation.
