NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 25- Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday fired back at Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, hours after he recorded a statement with detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
PS Kibicho was irked by Sonko’s sensational remarks, that he was part of government officials who orchestrated the 2017 violence witnessed in the city,a ploy to portray the Raila Odinga led National Super Alliance (NASA) in bad light.
Kibicho has started what he has vowed to see to its logical conclusion “if there are rules in this country” and a bullish Sonko, in a statement said, “bring it on.”
“This Kibicho will actually pursue anyone who accuses him on anything, going forward. Sonko shall give me answers, all things he has said about me he must prove one by one. He must prepare himself with very good lawyers,” Kibicho said.” a tough speaking Kibicho said.
But as the two ‘fight’ the Orange Democratic Movement is enjoying the spoils, and now says the party has been vindicated, after all.
“Throughout my public life, I have NEVER made any allegations that I cannot substantiate, including the truth I spoke yesterday.” Sonko said in a statement.
“I therefore look forward to an invitation from the DCI to record my statement, and for the PS to move to court quickly so that I can table ALL the evidence I have for Kenyans to see and judge for themselves.”
The former Governor added, “I am also ready to table evidence of how the so-called deep state and system organized the attempted assassination of the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in 2017 and how the same system financed the ‘delivery’ of sewerage at the Jacaranda Grounds to prevent the then People’s President from holding a public rally.”
This is not the first time Sonko has accused PS Kibicho for his woes.
During his tenure as a governor, he often accused him of sabotaging him, but it the latest accusations that has irked PS Kibicho more, and has promised to face him head on.
Meanwhile, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has called for a probe over what might inform the next national debate for weeks now, more so now when the country is gearing towards the 2022 general elections.
“We are slowly but surely being vindicated as people behind these nefarious schemes slowly emerge from the dark hideout, to confess to their crimes,” Sifuna said in a statement.
Sifuna said the confession by the “disgraced former Governor of Nairobi” amounts too little too late.
In a post on October 11, 2017, Sonko through his Facebook page, condemned the violence that had spilled over to the City’s Central Business District (CBD).
