NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 27- A police officer was Tuesday night shot dead in a robbery at Land Mawe area, Industrial Area, Nairobi.
The corporal of police attached to Industrial Area police station was seated with his girlfriend in his car when three gunmen confronted them demanding cash and other valuables.
A push and pull ensued, that saw the officer shot in the head. He died on the spot.
In the process, the suspects shot and killed one of their own who was standing on the opposite side of the car.
The gang escaped on foot to an unknown destination.
A hunt for the gang is ongoing.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary.
Nairobi police boss Rashid Yakub says they are investigating the incident.
He said a team of detectives is on the ground looking for the gang.
