KIAMBU, Kenya, Feb 8- Police have impounded a matatu whose crew are said to have pushed out a woman as it moved on Thika Highway killing her.

Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai said they want to understand if it is the crew who pushed Judy Wanjiku Nyaga who hails from Githambo in Kiharu constituency and was working with Equity Bank, Ruiru branch causing serious injuries and death.

Records showed the incident occured on February 6, at about 6.30pm near a local police post.

She fell on her head causing an injury.

The police boss said the vehicle involved in the incident was Monday traced and detained at Wanguru police station in Kirinyaga county.

“The vehicle involved has already been detained at Wanguru Police Station in Mwea. We are currently looking for the driver who is at large. I assure you action will be taken against the culprits involved,” IG Mutyambai said.

He said they had not arrested any other person or talked to witnesses of the incident.

This came after social media users tagged him online with said details of the vehicle involved.

Witnesses told police informally the woman was thrown out of the moving vehicle after an altercation.

It is not clear who she was involved with in the altercation.

She was later picked up by car wash attendants near the place and taken to Thika Level Five hospital where she succumbed to the injuries.
