NAKURU, Kenya, Feb, 9 – Dismembered body parts of a flower farm worker who was reported missing two months ago has been found while two suspects including a former lover arrested and arraigned in court.
The former lover led police to a pit latrine at his home in industrial area estate in Naivasha on Tuesday after confessing that he had dismembered the body, put the pieces in a sack before disposing it.
Detectives attached to Gilglil police station and officers from the Nakuru fire department retrieved the body in 3- hour operation.
Earlier last week, the suspect led police to an abandoned building where they retrieved the deceased’s severed head and other body parts tossed in a ditch.
Sarah Nafula Pallang’a was reported missing by her family on December 9, 2020.
“It got to a point where we were curious because Sarah was missing and his friend came with her house keys. When asked where Sarah, he said she had gone to Saudi Arabia to work,” the deceased brother Samuel Itunga said.
A missing persons report was filed at the Gilgil police station and the former lover arrested.
He was however shortly after released due to insufficient evidence.
Detectives pursuing the case later established that Sarah had not travelled to Saudi Arabia as alleged and was indeed brutally murdered.
The former lover and another suspect were arrested.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be established.
Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander John Onditi told Shahidi News that the suspects will be detained to allow further investigations.
“We sought custodial order to detain the suspects for 14 days, so far we are yet to recover one arm,” Onditi said.
The deceased uncle, Dickson Pallang’a said the former lover has been involved with her niece for quite some time despite at one point reporting an assault incident at the Gilgil police station.
“We can’t say what happened but they had a relationship with the girl. Sarah worked at a flower farm and the man at another company,” he said.
“We are waiting for the body parts to be fully recovered then we can proceed with funeral arrangements.”
Such cases of homicide have been on the rise since January, to what has been linked to post COVID-19 pandemic effects.
Tens of lives have been lost through such killings.
For example in Kiambu, a 21 year-old killed five members of his family including the mother and father.
A Kiambu court was told that the suspect was not mentally fit to stand trial after a physiological assessment.
He admitted to killing his family members for allegedly bad mouthing him among his peers and relatives.
Another suspect was recently arrested in Kayole after killing his former lover.
The man tied the woman using ropes inside her Njiru house before setting it up on fire.
The two had met to try resolve their differences.
