NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 26- Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko says he urgently needs to travel to South Africa, for a hip surgery.
Sonko has been in hospital for 2 weeks.
A medical report seen by Shahidi News indicates that the former governor has developed severe arthritis, necessitating an urgent surgery, to be conducted in South Africa.
“The pain is worse at night and on movement, limiting his physical activity and diminishing his quality of life,” reads the report by Dr Esther Nafula Wekesa.
The doctor further says, “the patient has been reviewed by several orthopedic surgeons who have all recommended bilateral hip replacements.”
If untreated, the doctor said the former governor might lead to bone collapse or even fractures.
Dr. Van De Plank’s, based in South Africa, is set to conduct the surgery if Sonko’s request is granted.
