NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 26- A government official and her son whose body were found in their house along Jogoo road in Nairobi on Tuesday were suffocated to death.
This was revealed on Friday by an autopsy on their bodies.
Charity Kemboi and her 8-year-old son Allan Kipng’etich died out of smothering according to the autopsy report seen by Shahidi News. Their bodies did not have any physical injuries.
Smothering entails covering someone’s nose and mouth so that they can suffocate.
A man who was also found dead in the house and said to be a family friend died because of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Kevin Kipkoech’s hands and legs were found tied up. He was aged 30 years.
Chief government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor conducted the postmortem at the Chiromo Funeral home.
“The gentleman died because of carbon monoxide poisoning. I have gotten information that some jiko was found next to him,” Dr Odour told Shahidi News.
Homicide detectives say they will be seeking to establish if they were all killed and the jiko placed there and whether the man played any role.
The man was studying at St Thomas of Aquinas Seminary in Nairobi and was in his eighth year according to his family.
He was a seminarian due to graduate as a Catholic priest this year.
-Scene of Crime Reconstructed-
Detectives have since taken over the house, which the killings occurred, and reconstructed the scene as they tried to figure out the events before the murders.
The mother and son were found dead inside one of the bedrooms, while the body of the 30-year-old was found in a toilet while in a sitting position, with both hands and legs tied together.
Both the woman and the child were holding a rosary.
“The man’s legs were swollen,” a detective who visited the scene told Shahidi News.
The man’s shirt was also torn, raising the possibility of a struggle.
Investigators have since dusted the house, which was in disarray.
Shahidi News has established that a number of people are set to be questioned over the incident. No suspects have been arrested.
