NAIROBI, Kenya, May 22- A 15-year-old girl who was beaten by her parents and elder brother for allegedly sneaking out of home and failing to report to school, has succumbed to her injuries.

The girl was declared dead on arrival at a city-based hospital on Friday morning after she developed complications.

Her father had on Thursday night taken the student at Kiteta Girls Secondary School in Mbooni, Makueni County to hospital.

Officials at the hospital and police say she was treated and discharged.

“She was examined and discharged, where the father took her back home at Jamhuri showground quarters,” detectives at Kilimani police station, where the deceased’s parents and elder brother are held said.

The elder brother is a student at the Technical University, in Nairobi.

The clinical officer at the hospital said that her body had bruises all over, “a sign that she had been grievously assaulted.”

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said, “Detectives from DCI Kilimani who visited the scene recovered one PPR pipe believed to have been used to beat up the deceased and is being held as an exhibit.”

According to the DCI, her mother is an administrative assistant working at ASK showground.

They live within the Jamhuri Showground Quarters
