SAMBURU, Kenya, May 25- A Kenya Defence Forces impersonator has been arrested in Samburu, after complaints of harassing members of the public were made to police.
The suspect, police say, had a fake job Identity Card that he would flash to anyone who had doubts of who he was, in an almost perfect art of deception.
It is the same fake document, police said, that he used to intimidate members of the public.
Police identified the man as Vincent Leshan.
“We staged a raid at a home in Baragoi where recovered his phone and the fake document,” a senior police officer involved in the raid told Shahidi News.
Samburu North Sub County Police Commander Mike Wachira said the 33-year-old is set to be arraigned and charged with impersonation.
He said investigations on whether he has used his fake identity card to commit crime are underway.
“He has been moving around bragging that he is a KDF officer. We are trying to find out how long this has been going on and whether he has been involved in crime,” he said. He was arrested on Monday.
The suspect is being held at the Baragoi police station.
