TRANSNZOIA, Kenya, Jun 2 – A cache of firearms and uniforms were on Wednesday recovered from a police officer’s home in Trans Nzoia, who is now being pursued.
The officer who is based in Nairobi and attached to the Judiciary was not at home when his colleagues conducted the raid following a tip-off.
Six German Walther pistols, a submachine gun, Smith and Wesson revolver, and 197 rounds of ammunition were found hidden in a small cupboard in the sitting room.
Also found were a smoke trouser, jungle pullover, Angola jungle shirt, a modified swagger cane and a colourless liquid in a five litre jerrican.
Police said a suspect whom they found in the homestead escaped. The civilian and police officer who works as a driver are being sought. Also recovered was a saloon car that had been parked outside the officer’s house a Saloon car.
“The officer is to be arrested and arraigned in court. He will be charged with relevant offenses,” read a police report seen by Shahidi News.
The officer lives in Police Band quarters in South B.
