NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 17- Police are looking for a 23-year-old girl who was kidnapped by unknown people from Kamukunji area, Nairobi.
Hafsa Mohamed Lukman is missing since she was kidnapped on Tuesday by men who have made demands to the family.
Police say they are yet to know where the girl is. She was last seen in Eastleigh.
There have been a rising cases of kidnappings in the country, in a worrying trend.
Police headquarters is yet to issue a statement on the growing cases.
On Wednesday, a 3-year-old was re-united with her family, after 7 days with kidnappers.
She was dropped off near her residence in Pipeline area in Nairobi.
Kenya is among 35 countries listed by the United States where cases of kidnappings are frequent.
Other African countries on the list include Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
The US foreign affairs office has named these countries as unsafe to travel to.
The growing wave has been linked to an economic meltdown occasioned following the COVID-19 pandemic.
With no measures to cushion the poor majority and millions who have lost their source of income, governance experts say crime is likely to increase, even more.
Some cases of kidnapping have ended with the victim either being assaulted or killed.
In May, an 8-year-old girl was killed, days after she was kidnapped.
Baby Shantel Nzembi died from suffocation by blockage of the mouth and nose according to an autopsy done on her body by Government pathologist Johansen Odour.
Four suspects have since been arrested and arraigned.
