MARSABIT, Kenya, Jun 25- Tension is high in Bubisa, Marsabit County, following the killing of a road construction worker.
The deceased was engaged in the construction of the Bubisa-Shurr road according to authorities.
He was in a group of other casual labourers while aboard a Toyota Land Cruiser, when they were ambushed by armed attackers.
The attackers fired several rounds of ammunition towards the vehicle, in the process injuring the deceased.
A bullet pierced his right thigh and exited on the left side, resulting to heavy bleeding.
“He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital,” Area Assistant Chief Adano Ganya told Shahidi News.
12 spent cartridges were recovered at the scene of the incident.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the attackers could have been tribal militia targeting members of a different clan.
A contingent of police officers has been deployed in the area to hunt down the attackers amidst growing tension in the area.
