NAKURU, Kenya, Jul 5- A manhunt has been launched for a woman believed to have played a role in the killing of a police officer in Nakuru County.
The officer’s body was found inside his car, which was within the Kasarani Police Quarters.
The woman, who is also a police officer is said to have taken the deceased’s Ceska pistol, which was at the point loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Nakuru Town East Sub-County Police Commander Phanton Analo identified the murdered officer as John Obweno.
He was aged 28 years.
“She is the prime suspect in the murder. She has since gone missing,” a senior detective privy to the incident told Shahidi News.
Already, the detective said an alert had been issued across the country and her picture circulated.
“If seen, treat her as armed and dangerous,” reads the police alert seen by Shahidi News.
According to Nakuru Town police boss, Obweno’s body was found laid back on the driver’s seat.
“The body had injuries on the head,” he said. “Blood was oozing from his ears and nose, an indicator that he could have been hit on the head although it is still not clear if it was a blunt object or a bullet.”
The assailants, according to police had broken the driver’s window.
The officer was last seen with the missing officer, who is also said to be his girlfriend. She holds a rank of a corporal.
“There was commotion,” another detective who sought anonymity said. “We found a spent cartridge at the scene.”
The slain was officer was attached to the Crime Branch unit within the station.
His body is at the Nakuru County Mortuary, ahead of an autopsy.
