NAKURU,Kenya,July 21 – A police officer is among 13 victims admitted in hospital after they were involved in a road accident along the Naivasha-Nairobi Highway.
The incident occurred a few meters from Soko Mpya market in Nyandarua county.
Three other officers managed to escape for their lives as their other colleague was not so lucky.
They had been deployed along the highway for their routine traffic duties.
Nyandarua County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo told Shahidi News that the officer, identified as Raymond Kiiru suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a lorry.
“We suspect that the driver of the lorry that was transporting goods, he lost control hitting another vehicle. The officer was hit during the incident, he sustained deep cuts on his mouth and face,” said Mr. Leparmorijo.
The victims have been admitted at the Kijabe Mission Hospital.
The vehicles involved in the accident have since been admitted as evidence and towed to the Magumu police station.
