NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 21- A pedestrian was on Tuesday night stabbed to death in a robbery incident in Kariobangi area, Nairobi county.
Police told Shahidi News that the man aged 32 was walking home when a gang approached him and demanded cash and mobile phone from him.
This prompted a confrontation that led to his stabbing in the stomach. He died on the spot as the attackers escaped on foot.
No arrests have been made so far.
Security has been heightened across the country following a surge in cases of crime.
According to Inspector General of Police, anti-mugging police unit has been deployed across all major towns in Kenya, to curb the vice.
With COVID-19 pandemic and a failing economy, the trend is unlikely to change according to security experts.
There has also been an increase in the number of active Organised Criminal Gangs in Nairobi, with some alleged to have political affiliations according to security agencies.
