KISUMU, Kenya, Aug 12- A family in Kisumu is in shock, after unknown person dumped a coffin with what looked like witchcraft paraphernalia inside.

The bizarre incident happened in Kogony village within the County.

Residents who flocked to the homestead and talked to Shahidi News said the coffin had a black hen with a rosary tied around its neck.

There was also a snail and while they could not immediately establish what was wrapped up in a polythene bag.

“I was shocked and after confirming, I immediately informed my area assistant chief and thereafter reported the matter to Riat police post,” the owner of the homestead whether the coffin had been dumped Sylvester Okore told Shahidi News.

He was notified by a casual labourer working for him.

Okore linked the incident to his relatives but he could not explain why.

The meaning and motive of the incident remains a challenge for both police and the family.

“This is shocking. We do not know the intentions of whoever dropped the coffin here,” a resident told Shahidi News.

Other locals suspected the incident is linked to an ongoing land dispute between the Okore and his brother.

“It is unfortunate but we are suspecting that the land row that has existed between two brothers could be the reason behind such activities,” another said.
