NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 23-A police officer was arrested for using the official service vehicle to transport forest produce without the necessary documents in Trans Nzoia County.
The cop was nabbed by officers from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) along the Kapenguria – Kitale road following a tip-off.
The police lorry he was driving was impounded, upon which a search was conducted and 7 bags of charcoal and 165 bags of aloe vera estimated to weigh about 5,000 kgs were recovered.
The produce is believed to have been on transit to Nairobi.
The owner of the consignment, was arrested for lack of necessary documentation.
Such incidents are common among some police officers.
