KISUMU,Kenya, Aug 24 – Jackline Anyango was arraigned Tuesday at the Kisumu Law Courts where she stood accused of three counts of assault and theft.

According to court documents, the accused attacked a woman identified as Vivian Adhiambo at Obunga trading center on June 25,2021.

Following the violent altercation the accused allegedly slapped the suspect before proceeding to use a bra to strangle her…before onlookers stepped in and stopped her.

During the incident, the suspect is also accused of stealing the victim’s mobile phone worth Sh15,500. The court was informed.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora, the court was told that the victim suffered,”actual bodily harm as a result of the attack,”

    The suspect denied the charges.

During the incident,Anyango is also accused of destroying a radio device as well as damaging a chair belonging to the victim.

In her defense through her legal counsel, Adhiambo told the court that the victim had ‘threatened to bring her down’ while constantly threatening her life.

The prosecution has since lined up five witnesses to testify against the suspect.

“Other witnesses will also be brought in,” said the prosecution

While giving his orders, Gesora told the victim not to hesitate and report to the police if the accused threatens her again.

The accused was released on a Sh30,000 bond.

The case is set to be heard on September 26,2021.
