NAKURU,Kenya, Aug 31 – Police in Nakuru are pursuing Moses Leparani, a 35 year-old implicated in the murder of his girlfriend, Martha Waithera,33, at her home in Lake-view estate on Monday night.
According to preliminary investigations, the deceased’s 10 year old son notified neighbours of what had happened when they came rushing and found her lying in a pool of blood on her bed.
Neighbours shortly after notified local police.
Nakuru Town East Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Eric Wanyonyi told Shahid News, the suspect had been seen at the deceased home on Monday night and is currently being treated as the main suspect.
“The deceased had visible physical injuries and blood was oozing out of her private parts..we are however still investigating the matter and seek to establish the cause of death after a postmortem examination i conducted,” said Wanyonyi.
Detectives further revealed that the deceased had been living with the suspect for nearly three years and were blessed with two children aged 10 years and four months.
A cousin to the deceased however says she is shocked to learn of her death since the two did not have any marital dispute.
“Since we live in the same plot as her, it was my nephew who woke me up screaming that her mom had been killed, we rushed to the house and found her on her bed, dead. The house was locked from the outside before we rushed in,” said the deceased cousin Margaret Nyambura .
The deceased worked as a trader. Relatives however say she stopped working in order to take care of her 4 month old child.
“It is sad that when she was killed, the suspect did it in front of her 10 year old and four month old baby….I am calling on women to do a background check on men they want to cohabit with in order to avoid falling prey to killers,” he said
A manhunt for the suspect is ongoing.
The body of the deceased is being preserved at the local mortuary.
Meanwhile in the region in Kuresoi, a student at Kapsumbeiywo Secondary School, 19 year-old Edmond Kipngetich is dead after battling for his life at the Nakuru Level Five hospital after suffering several stab wounds.
According to the area DCIO Peter Obonyo, the victim was allegedly stabbed by a man who found him romantically involved with his wife.
The incident occurred Sunday night.
Residents had initially rushed the victim to the Olenguruone Sub-County hospital.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect.
