NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 2- Celebrated Kenyan musician and activist Juliani has recorded a statement with police, over a threat to his life.
Juliani, who is known for his socially conscious music, says he has received threats through a phone call, for posting pictures while in the company of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s former wife, Lilian Ng’ang’a.
He has recorded the incident at Kileleshwa police station.
“There is a complaint and we are looking into it,” Kilimani Police Division Sub-County Police Commander Muturi Mbogo told Shahidi News.
He said detectives were already on the case.
Juliani is said to have been warned against posting the pictures with the former Machakos first lady.
Activist Boniface Mwangi said the caller said they would kill Juliani if he failed to comply with the orders.
In a cryptic social media post, Juliani had recently said Kenyans are free to choose whether to believe the story or not.
Lilian and Mutua announced their separation after several years of living as a man and wife.
“Lillian and I have been a blessing to each other. Two months ago, we decided to slowly disengage. We are on amicable terms and remain very close as friends,” the Governor said in a statement.
