NYERI,Kenya,Sep, 2 – Elias Kariuki is set to be arraigned at the Nyeri Law Courts after hacking to death his brother Joseph Kariuki following a dispute over the ownership of a couch.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday night at Kamakwa area of Nyeri county.

The suspect is said to have been engaged in an altercation after his brother, the deceased arrived at this home under instructions from their mother to repossess the three-seater couch.

The suspect in a violent outburst according to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is then said to have punched his brother before scampering to pick a machete.

“In the process, Muriithi, 33, had then brandished a machete with which he occasioned serious cuts to his elder brother, before smashing his head,” read a stamens from the DCI.

Upon hearing a distress call, residents rushed to the house only to find the deceased on the ground bleeding profusely.
