NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 7 –  Two brothers, Ezekiel Muia Mutuku and Augustine Kioko Mutuku were arraigned at the Madaraka Law Courts Monday and charged with robbery with violence.

The two siblings are accused of abducting businessman Dison Njiru along Mombasa road in Nairobi shortly after he withdrew Sh950,000 from a bank.

The incident occurred on May 28, 2021, at a hotel in the area.

The two are accused of planning and committing the robbery alongside two other suspects said to be at large by police.

Detectives revealed that the suspects have in the past committed similar robberies.

According to police documents presented in court, the accused bundled the victim inside a vehicle that was allegedly hired.

Appearing before principal magistrate  Eunice Suter, the prosecution told the courts that the victim was tortured before subsequently abandoned in Mihang’o off Kangundo road.

The accused sought the leniency of the court and were released on Sh500,000 each after saying that they were the breadwinners of very young families.

The case is set to be heard on December 6, 2021.
