NAIROBI,Kenya, Sep, 8 – Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Wednesday arrested a suspected drug trafficker at Nasra estate in Kayole, Nairobi county following an operation mounted by sleuths from the transnational organized crime unit in the area.
Detectives identified 42 year-old Beatrice Owuor as the prime suspect of the drug trafficking ring.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect attempted to ingest the dangerous narcotics in a bid to avoid detection, with detectives saying they were set to be shipped to an unknown location.
During the operation at her Nasra home, the suspect was arrested in the company of two others as sleuths recovered, a digital weighing scale,60 pellets of heroin and a copy of her passport.
One of the suspects is alleged to have a pending case in court.
Detectives have since launched further background checks against the Mbagathi nurse to fully establish her role in the drug syndicate.
Detectives from the anti-narcotic unit unit at the DCI headquarters have since taken over the matter.
Investigations are ongoing with the suspects set to be arraigned.
