NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 16- Former Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario was on Thursday fined Sh3.6 million, or serve 6 years jail imprisonment.
He was sentenced after he was found guilty of abusing his office over the Rio Olympics games scandal.
On his part, Former National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) Stephen soi was fined Sh10.5 million or serve 12 years in prison.
Soi faced three counts of abuse of office and three counts of willful failure to comply with applicable procedures and guidelines relating to the management of public funds.
Wario was dropped as Kenya’s Ambassador to Austria in May 2019, eight months after he faced abuse of office charges under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Act.
At least Sh88.6 million was reported to have been embezzled following an investigation in November 2016.
