NAKURU,Kenya, Oct, 13 – Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Rose Obata police were granted 14 days to detain Victor Ng’eno, who was accused of impersonating a magistrate of the High Court of Kenya.
In a miscellaneous application filed by the investigating officer Inspector Elias Baya, detectives sought time to identify the full identity of the suspect.
Seven more victims are meanwhile said to have come forward after filing complaints about the suspect.
The suspect will be arraigned October 26,2021.
Police arrested the 32-Year-Old after he allegedly obtained over Sh1.6million in 2018 from a Nakuru man while impersonating a magistrate at Nakuru Law Courts.
Ng’eno, who was privy to an ongoing civil case involving the victim at the said law courts, sought a meet-up with him where he promised to expedite the determination of the case in his favour.
When he shook Ng’eno’s hand in agreement after the fake assurance, the victim had literarily signed in as a cash cow for the unforgiving imposter.
Months that followed saw the victim part with Sh1,664,230 in the pursuit of ‘justice’ which to him had taken too long.
Police say efforts by the victim to reach Ng’eno by all means previously used went futile, as the latter vanished with his felonious kill.
“Devastated by the turn of events that regrettably left him poorer, the victim reported the matter to Nakuru detectives, who have since maintained Ng’eno’s name on the wanted list of notorious fraudsters,” the DCI said in a statement.
