Police Pursue man that hacked his own mother to death in Kisumu

KISUMU,Kenya, Oct, 13 – 34 year-old Michael Odhiambo remains on the run days after hacking to death his mother.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred in Ting’a village in Seme Sub-County.

The suspect is said to have violently descended on his mother with a machete following a family dispute before inflicting dangerous cuts on her body.

Attempts by angry residents to apprehend him proved futile after he escaped the scene.

Police told Shahidi News that the victim, Seline Adhiambo died on the spot after bleeding to death.

“The victim was lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on her head and was already dead,” said police.

Area residents however expressed their shock following the incident saying that it remains unclear why a son would mete such violence on her own mother.

“We do not understand why he had to commit that heinous act. We hope the suspect will be brought to book,” said Ochieng.

A manhunt to apprehend him is ongoing.
