NAIROBI,Kenya, Oct,15 – Outgoing Defence Cabinet Secretary Dr. Monica Juma Friday Officially handed over the powerful ministry docket to Eugene Wamalwa who takes the helm at Ulinzi House.
Juma took part in the institutional transition, in an elaborate ceremony attended by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) high command led by Chief of the Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi alongside Defence CAS Peter Odoyo and PS Ibrahim Mohammed.
“It has been a fulfilling tenure, leading the MOD team in delivering of the constitutional mandate including leading the country In dealing with a range of challenges such as the COVID19 pandemic and delivering on projects of national significance,” Said Juma.
Juma thanked president Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity to serve in the critical docket saying that her eyes are now set on her new docket in the energy ministry.
The handing over process began with a meeting with Heads of Department in the civilian side of the Ministry of Defence – Hailing the constant support they have offered to their uniformed colleagues.
“This team has led from the front during my tenure-demonstrating unparalleled commitment to service, dedication to the motherland & loyalty to the Constitution. To each one of them I say kudos & keep it up! It has been a great pleasure & enriching experience to service with you,”She said.
President Kenyatta’s cabinet recently underwent several modifications in changes announced by the head of public service Joseph Kinyua.
Kinyua said the changes are meant to enhance operational efficiency, institutionalize the implementation of various ongoing groundbreaking reforms, better orientate portfolio responsibilities with both national development plans as well as the need of citizens, and introduce functional changes that shall make the relevant Ministries and State Departments more efficient and better able to deliver superlative services to the public.
