KIAMBU, Kenya, Oct 16- Detectives have 2 weeks to unturn all stones in the probe against a man who has been raping and killing women in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Paul Magara, 29, is linked to five murders, rape, and serious assault cases in the cosmopolitan constituency.

Ruiru head of investigations Justus Ombati says detectives are piecing crucial details together, to ensure they have a tight case against the serial killer.

“He is being detained at the Ruiru police station,” the Ruiru DCIO told Shahidi News.

Detectives are among other things looking into establishing the authenticity of the details that the suspect had been recruited by a cult-like church in Nairobi, where he would be allegedly paid to commit the crimes.

When he was arrested, he had a backpack full of women undergarments.

“The panties are suspected to belong to women that the suspect has been attacking,” he said.

He would launch his attacks between 3 am and 4 am. Police said he would wait for the women inside the lavatories.

According to police, the suspect struck ladies at night, killing and seriously injuring some before removing and escaping with their inner clothing.

“He would use a hammer, knives, and other crude weapons to harm women,” Ruiru police boss Cecilia Kemboi told Shahidi News.

She said the suspect has also confessed to watching police, from a distance, as they collect the bodies of his victims and would even attend their burial.

His mental stability has been put into question.

The suspect was arrested alongside his 25-year-old brother Aman Aboko Mochama- whom police say is an accomplice. Two other suspects are in police custody.

He committed most of the crimes in Wataalam village within Ruiru.

“It all started with one such shocking incident in 2020 at Kiunguru area around Ruiru Bypass, when a woman who had been seen with a man at night before she was found dead in her room, with one of her breasts chopped off,” the DCI said in a statement.

Another incident occurred in January this year involving a young lady.

The victim was found murdered at a local lodging in a similar style, moments after she was spotted with Morara, according to the DCI.

“After months of receiving several related murder and attempted murder incidents all reported by female victims, another lady was found murdered in her rental house at Magorofani area of Wataalam,” the agency said, “The mysterious agent of death had caused untold panic and terror in the area, with word having it that a vampire was roaming in the dark hunting down women.”

He was arrested a day after a 20-year-old man described by police as a “bloodthirsty murderer” was lynched to death by an irate mob in Bungoma.

Masten Wanjala had escaped from the police custody in Nairobi, on the day he was to take a plea for various murder-related charges.

He confessed to killing 13 children in various parts of the country.
