NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 18- A suspect in the murder of Olympian Agnes Tirop, will remain in police custody for 20 more days pending the conclusion of investigations.

Ibrahim Rotich who was the husband of the deceased was arraigned before Iten Magistrate Charles Kutwa where the prosecution sought more time to detain him.

The court directed that the accused be detained at Railways Police Station in Eldoret.

He will also undergo a mental assessment at Eldoret Teaching and Referral Hospital. The case will be mentioned on November 9.

    • Ibraham Rotich, the prime suspect into the gruesome murder of Tirop.

Tirop was stabbed to death in her house in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County last week.

Her husband, who had gone missing after the incident, would later be arrested in Changwamwe, Mombasa.

According to the DCI, Rotich was nabbed while trying to flee to a neighboring country to evade justice.

The house where Tirop was found dead with a stab wound on the neck remained a crime scene as police finalise investigations.

Homicide detectives had on Saturday collected CCTV cameras from the home of Tirop in Iten town, as Rotich, who was arrested in Mombasa was moved to the region.
