LAIKIPIA, Kenya, Oct 19- Multiagency security personnel drawn from various agencies yesterday held a Key Leadership Engagement(KLE) session with elders drawn from various villages neighboring the Laikipia Nature Conservancy (LNC) at Eighteen police posts in Kinamba location.

The engagement was led by Brigadier Peter Assava accompanied by Commissioner Mbatha from the General Service Unit (G.S.U) and other senior security officials from the Ministry of Interior.

During the engagement Brig Assava emphasized the need for a cordial relationship between the locals and the security apparatus operating in the area noting this would lead to effective and prompt responses to any threats. He also assured the locals of sustained peace efforts geared towards finding a long-lasting solution to the perennial problem.

The elders drawn from various villages of the larger Ng’arua Division acknowledged the efforts being undertaken by the multiagency team and in particular singled out the trench being dug by the Kenya Defence Forces as a great project that will go a long way in mitigating the threat posed by bandits.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua last week reiterated the government’s earlier directive calling on all non residents in the areas designated as security operation zones in Laikipia county to vacate the area with immediate effect.

In a statement Mbugua said that the multi-agency operation will continue in a heightened manner until full normalcy is restored within the affected areas.

“Members of the public are encouraged to help multi-agency teams with information to help clear unwanted elements from the disturbed areas. Those who volunteer information in confidence are assured of their security and safety,” said mbugua in a statement.
