MANDERA, Kenya, Oct 27- Security agencies in Mandera rescued a 14-year-old boy from burning to death after he was set ablaze by two of his brothers.

Abdullah Hassan however later passed on while receiving treatment at the Mandera County Teaching and Referral Hospital according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“The boy’s death has also left officers based at the station engulfed in a sombre mood, since they were looking forward to his recovery. Our thoughts are with the family of Abdullah Hassan following the painful loss,” the DCI said.

The shocking incident happened on Monday.

The class seven pupil at Kamor Primary School in Mandera, was lured to their house by his mischievous brothers Ibrahim Ahmed and Yusuf Ahmed, before being rolled up in a mattress doused in petrol and set on fire.

The pupil had been accused of being a witness in a case that his brother Ibrahim Ahmed, was accused of stealing a mobile phone.

After setting him ablaze, the two brothers immediately went into hiding leaving their little brother for dead.

However, Police officers saw a fire coming from the house and rushed to the scene only to find the poor boy burning.

They immediately rescued him and rushed him to Mandera County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

The two brothers have since been arrested. The young boy died on Wednesday morning.

“We hope that the arrest of the two suspects will bring some semblance of justice to the family and friends of the young boy,” the DCI said in a Tweet.
