NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 3- Nyali Member of Parliament has asked a court in Kwale to grant him more time to look for a missing terror suspect he had stood as a surety.
The suspect, Noordin Abdallah Hassan alias Kamanda has failed to attend two court sessions in Kwale on October 4 and November 1.
A warrant of arrest was issued against the legislator after he failed to show up in court and explain his whereabouts.
According to court papers seen by Shahidi News, the suspect last appeared before Kwale Principal Magistrate Patrick Wambugu on January 21, 2020.
The first-time legislator stood as security for the suspect in 2017 after he was arrested by the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) officers in 2016 in Shimoni area within Kwale County.
Noordin is facing 12 terror-related charges including the offense of being in possession of radicalization articles and conducting recruitment of local youths to join the Islamic State terror group.
Upon arrest, he was charged and released on bond.
The case will be mentioned on November 18.
Officials say Abdallah is an associate of Salim Rashid Mohamed alias Chotara alias Turki an IS operative who was recently filmed conducting a beheading in DR Congo.
He had in March 2020 been arrested in Mombasa after being captured on CCTV mugging two people, one of them a schoolgirl.
He was arrested and released on bail. Police say they have not seen him since then.
