NAIROBI,Kenya, Nov, 5 – Emmanuel Soita, a teacher was Friday arraigned at the Kibera Law courts and accused of defrauding a woman identified as Zebedy Amustsama Sh1,355,700 after promising her that she would assist in securing a job for her daughter with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
The accused appearing before senior principal magistrate Derrick Kutto, is also said to have masqueraded as a KDF officer with the rank of a caption. According to the victim, he claimed to have been part of the recruitment exercise.
He is said to have received the money on diverse dates between January 10 and March 5,2021.
Days after the incident, he is said to have presented the victim with a fake certificate and later proceeded to demand ‘a facilitation fee’ which was to be sent to him via M-Pesa.
He however denied the charges and was released on a bond of Sh500,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh300,000.
