    African Union Peace and Security Council delegation on a working visit to Somalia

    Mogadishu,Somalia,Nov, 9 – Officials of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU-PSC) are in Somalia on a three-day working visit, during which they will meet senior officials of the Federal Government of Somalia, civil society groups and representatives of international partners.

    The delegation arrived on Monday, led by the Ambassador of Egypt to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Dr. Mohamed Omar Gad, and the Acting Director of Conflict Management Directorate at the African Union, Fiona Lortan.

    The delegation was received at Aden Abdulle International Airport, Mogadishu, by the AMISOM senior leadership team led by the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Madeira.

    Other AMISOM officials present included the AMISOM Force Commander, Lt. Gen. Diomede Ndegeya, the AMISOM Police Commissioner, AIGP Augustine Magnus Kailie, the AMISOM Deputy Force Commander in charge of Operations and Plans, Maj. Gen. William Kitsao Shume and the AMISOM Deputy Force Commander in charge of Support and Logistics, Maj. Gen. Gerbi Kebede Regassa.

    The visiting delegation then held closed-door discussions with the AMISOM senior mission leadership team from the civilian, military and police components, who briefed them on the progress made so far in implementing the mission’s mandate.

    The AUPSC is also set to meet and hold discussions with the President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed ‘Farmaajo’, the Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble and the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Abdirizak.

    The visiting delegation will also separately meet members of the Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT), officials from AMISOM Troop and Police Contributing Countries, members of the civil society, the diplomats and international partners accredited to Somalia.
