NAIROBI,Kenya, Nov, 15 – The country’s security apparatus is on high alert following the suspicious escape of three terror convicts serving time at the country’s top correctional facility, the Kamiti maximum Security Prisons.
According to the Commissioner General of Prisons Wycliffe Ogallo, a probe has been launched to establish how the inmates escaped from the prison.
They are said to have escaped from the facility this past Sunday, November, 14,2021.
Preliminary reports however indicate that they might have ‘removed’ part of the wall to their cell block. How they by-passed armed prison warders afterwards and eventually escaped the facility remains a mystery at this point.
The inmates include,Musharaf Abdalah Akhulunga alias Zarkawi, or shukri. The second inmate has been identified as Mohammed Ali Bikar while the third fugitive of the law is Joseph Juma Odhiambo alias Yusuf.
“Arising out of this, in the company of my senior officers, I visited the institution to establish the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident. The matter has been brought to the attention of all security agencies in the country with a view of tracking and apprehending the escapees. I wish to notify the members of the public that these are dangerous criminals and nobody should provide refuge to them,” Said KPS Commissioner General Ogallo.
Mohammed Ali Bikar was jailed for 41 years for his role in the Garissa university Attack.
Musharraf Abdallah alias Shukri or Zarkawi was serving a 22 year sentence after he was convicted for being in possession of explosives and firearms. He is also said to have been planning an attack on parliament in 2019.
Joseph Juma Odhiambo was convicted for travelling to a terrorist designated country without passing through a designated immigration exit point and failing to report departure to the immigration office.
Members of the public have been advised to reach out to police on the free toll number: 999 or 112 incase they identify the fugitives or have any information that might lead to their arrest.
Nanyuki G.K Prison Escape

Prison warders and police were forced to fire in the air in a bid to arrest the inmates which proved futile as they fled into the town.
Eight of inmates were arrested while six were unaccounted for.
At the time prisons Commissioner General said that, “the six inmates are dangerous and were in prison for murder and robbery with violence.”
The were identified as: Francis Kamau Nduati, Patrick Fundi and James Sike who are serving time for robbery with violence.

An inquiry was launched to establish how they managed to escape and how they acquired equipment to break out of their cells.
